Functions  and  Duties  of  the  Eco  Club

We know that we are a part of the environment we live in and the solution to many environmental problems lie in our attitude towards the environment. The best way to attempt to bring about a change in the attitudes towards the environment is through educating the future generation. We believe that a  group of people who are interested in doing something for the environment can achieve much more than an individual can. Herein lies our purpose to form the Eco Club in our college. In 1991, Shri M C Mehta filed an application in the public interest (Writ Petition (Civil) No. 860 of 1991), asking the Supreme Court to: 1)Issue direction to cinema halls that they show slides with information on the environment; 2) Issue direction for the spread of information relating to the environment on All India Radio; and 3) Issue direction that the study of the environment becomes a compulsory subject in schools and colleges. Being a college that promotes social-awareness, we are committed to make our students sensitive towards the protection and conservation of the environment in which we live in. We also attempt to educate our students regarding the intricacies of the environmental laws, so as to give our students the opportunity to play their part in protecting the environment. The duties assigned to the Eco Club are –

1.To organize volunteering programmes in order to make people understand environment and environmental problems.

2.To organise seminars, debates, lectures and popular talks on environmental issues in and outside the college.

3.To bring the students in direct contact with the current environmental problems facing the society they live in and make them think of the solutions.

Functions  and  duties  of  the  Sports  Club  and  Committee

Sports is an important part of the student life in our college. The college committee is highly concerned about the physical and mental well-being of our students. We believe in fostering healthy body and mind, which will prepare our students to take up any challenges and, in due course of time, be beneficial for the development of our country. We encourage each student to be associated with a particular sport, since it develops tenacity, nurtures team spirit, creates an alert and quick mind  and  fosters healthy sportsman qualities within the students. The present young generation is mostly habituated to lead a sedentary lifestyle, which is detrimental both to their body and mind. They fall prey to various illness at a young age, cannot cope up with stress or are incapable to take decisions and responsibilities. Being a progressive institution, we consider it very important to inculcate in our students a spirit of tolerance, which is associated with the capability of the individual to work in a team. No discriminatory attitude is tolerated during selection to the several sports teams in our college. However, we encourage more female students to take part in sports and provide them with all the necessary support to pursue their respective sports. Sports also acts as an effective diversion for our students and channelize their energies in the right direction. This helps them to pursue their academics with renewed vigour and enthusiasm. The duties assigned to the Sports Club and Committee are -

1.To establish a good interpersonal network that helps members work together. This involves determining and defining the procedures and structures of the group, assisting members, defining issues and summarising progress.

2.To organize regular inter- and intra-college sports competition at both the state and national level.

3.To make necessary arrangements and see to the proper distribution of certificates, trophies and medals, in case the college acts as the host institute.

4.To prepare the yearly schedule of the programmes to be held in each semesters at the beginning of the academic session and submitting the same to the Teacher-in-Charge/Principal within 30th May.

5.To submit the report of the programmes held within 1 month.

6.To raise funds and secure sponsorships for buying proper sports equipment, organizing sports events and to help economically backward students, who display exceptional talent in sports.

7.To maintain liasion with the Sports Department of the Government to remain updated about matches, events, funds, equipment, team travel, team accommodation, etc.

8.To organise training sessions for new and existing members to equip them with the skills needed to participate in the sport or society activity.

9.To ensure that all equipment required for training session or meeting is there and is in working order and ensuring that all equipment is booked out and that the team kit is washed etc.
